Job Title: Intern – Chesapeake, VA

This is an onsite internship role.

As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience within Centennial, participating in the day-to-day operations of the project management team. This internship is designed to familiarize you with various facets of construction and how Centennial conducts business within the industry. You will report to a Project Manager or Senior Site Representative.

Responsibilities:

Project Support: Assist with subcontractor and supplier coordination, material tracking, file management, document control (submittals, RFIs, and change orders), and progress reporting.
• Assist in preparing bid packages and review subcontractor bids.
• Support administrative and construction functions, reviewing proposals, specifications, drawings, material takeoffs, and cost estimates.
• Attend preconstruction meetings and client walk-throughs.
• Collaborate with site operations and workforce to assist with project layout, construction drawing and trade coordination, verification of site conditions, safety, and quality control.
Safety: Ensure compliance with Centennial’s Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) guidelines and procedures, as well as local requirements (OSHA, USACE EM385.1.1, etc.).
• Drive between project sites.

Qualifications:

• Working towards a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or part of a construction-related career preparation program.
• Previous industry internship/work experience is highly desired.
• Strong ability to adapt to changes, demonstrate integrity, collaborate effectively in a team, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Adapt to evolving technology (Microsoft Office Suite, ProCore, Adobe, BlueBeam).

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to walk on uneven terrain.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear regularly.
• Ability to use hands frequently.
• Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, squat, or reach.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $15.00/hr. – $22.00/hr.
