Audit Internship – Spring 2028 | Wipfli

The Tone:
This is an internship at Wipfli, located in Wipfli offices or at client sites. Wipfli is a professional services firm comprising Wipfli LLP, which provides attest services, and Wipfli Advisory LLC, which offers tax and business consulting services. This role is crucial as interns contribute directly to client engagements, leveraging their accounting knowledge to support the firm’s mission of creating exceptional impact and results through its people. Interns will experience professional development and gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment.

The TL;DR

• Mission: Support audit engagements and provide professional accounting services to clients, developing technical competency and interpersonal skills.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Interaction: Respond to client and firm associate requests and inquiries in a timely, accurate, positive, and professional manner, gathering necessary information.
• Audit Procedures: Perform audit, review, and compliance testing procedures in accordance with firm and professional standards as directed by engagement leaders.
• Data Analysis: Utilize data analysis skills to discover useful information and patterns, providing support for recommendations.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare or review client-prepared financial statements, footnotes, management reports, and other engagement outputs.
• Process Improvement: Proactively identify improvement opportunities in processes to enhance efficiency within the firm and for clients.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level position for individuals pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting. Completion of a corporate or individual taxation class is required.
• Experience: Working towards eligibility to sit for the CPA exam upon graduation. Demonstrated above-average knowledge in accounting as evidenced by college GPA, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Skills: Ability to think independently and make sound decisions, good communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize work, follow through on requests, take initiative, and meet deadlines.
• Bonus: Preferred coursework in Data Analytics or Big Data.
