Assurance Intern – Summer 2027 | BDO USA
The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at BDO USA, located in San Francisco, CA. BDO provides assurance, tax, and advisory services to clients across the U.S. and around the world, fostering an environment for energetic self-starters who think like entrepreneurs. In this role, you will apply your educational background and organizational skills to serve dynamic clients, gaining hands-on experience and forging critical relationships for your career success. You will work side-by-side with experienced team members who provide direction, coaching, and learning opportunities.

• Team: Assurance practice team
• Mission: To support the Assurance practice by assisting with problem-solving and fact-finding for the firm’s client base.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
What You’ll Actually Do
• Training: Participate in structured on-the-job training to learn Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
• Methodology: Become familiar with BDO’s specific audit methodology to assist with various stages of the audit process.
• Communication: Communicate with clients’ customers, creditors, banks, and related parties concerning audit issues.
• Documentation: Prepare and document work in working papers utilizing BDO specific tools and templates.
• Research: Complete one assigned accounting or audit related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level intern actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Accounting.
• Experience: No specific prior experience required.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to follow instructions, work effectively in a team setting, and a positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
• Bonus: Pursuing a Master’s degree in Accounting. Leadership experience. Actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA.
