Job description: This is an internship position at Origami Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center. As an intern, you will develop and administer treatment as indicated by assessments and prescribed by physicians, under the direction of an assigned clinical instructor, to provide quality rehabilitation services to clients.
Essential Duties:
• Model appropriate behavior conducive to a positive working and therapeutic environment.
• Observe all rules of confidentiality.
• Proactively initiate and follow-through with tasks utilizing appropriate problem solving techniques.
• Adhere to ethical guidelines and Michigan state regulations.
• Attend clinical reviews and family conferences, sharing responsibilities with the clinical instructor.
• Evaluate and document findings, prepare, and implement treatment plans.
• Record evaluations, daily progress notes, and discharge notes.
• Communicate client’s progress to relevant stakeholders.
• As deemed appropriate by clinical instructor, schedule client visits and complete portions of the billing processes.
• Develop and upgrade treatment plans and independent exercise programs.
• Attend staff meetings, orientation, and in-service training as assigned.
• Contribute to the design and maintenance of effective and timely systems of documentation, including clinical outcome data collection and analysis.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Communication:
• Communicate with physicians to discuss client progress and plan rehabilitation programs.
• Collaborate with team members (therapists, living skills staff, rehabilitation aides, patient care technicians, etc.) to facilitate client treatment and discuss procedures.
• Communicate with external stakeholders to provide education and updates related to individual treatment plans.
Education And/or Experience:
• The job requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be required by attending or completing the appropriate program to practice in the designated discipline. Level of education varies based on discipline and type of internship.
