Job Description: Intern
This is an entry-level professional internship position within the City of Boerne, designed to provide a comprehensive opportunity for professional training in the assigned department. Interns will operate under limited supervision, performing duties of moderate difficulty to acquire knowledge of the methods, procedures, and standards required for successful performance in a municipal government setting.
Work Schedule:
The work week for an Intern is flexible and will be determined based upon the specific needs of the department to which they are assigned.
Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
The Intern’s role is multi-faceted, focusing on supporting departmental operations and special projects. Key responsibilities include:
• Assisting professional staff with various special projects and general administrative duties.
• Collecting, compiling, analyzing, and researching information from diverse sources, particularly on local government issues.
• Preparing comprehensive documents, reports, and manuals that effectively present and interpret data, and identify potential alternatives or solutions.
• Providing crucial support for the successful completion of special projects within the assigned department.
• Engaging in customer service, which involves providing information and directions as requested, and completing routine office tasks.
• Accompanying department personnel on assignments to gain practical experience and provide technical and/or administrative support as needed.
• Performing other duties or projects as assigned by the department supervisor.
Salary:
The hourly compensation for the Intern position ranges from $12.00 to $18.00, with the specific rate being based upon the level of internship (e.g., High School, Undergraduate, Graduate).
