Human Resources Intern – Part Time | AMERISAFE, Inc.

The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at AMERISAFE, Inc., located in DeRidder, LA. AMERISAFE is seeking to add a detail-oriented, productivity-driven professional to its Human Resources “Excellence Team.” This role offers a unique opportunity for a student to gain valuable on-the-job experience by working closely with HR department employees and applying learned knowledge to daily operations. The intern will play a supportive role in various HR functions, contributing to the smooth operation of the department.

• Mission: Support the daily functions of the Human Resources team and gain hands-on experience by applying knowledge to routine tasks.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Observe & Learn: Observe daily tasks within assigned HR areas, engaging in conversations, and taking notes on job requirements to build foundational knowledge.
• Data Management: Complete data entry tasks accurately within HR systems, including ADP and Everbridge, and ensure the proper filing of employee documents in electronic personnel files.
• Recruitment Support: Participate in recruitment efforts by creating job postings, reviewing new applications, forwarding qualified candidates to hiring managers, and managing candidate communication.
• Reporting & Analysis: Participate in the evaluation and analysis of data such as annual motor vehicle reports, and update various monthly and quarterly departmental spreadsheets as requested.
• Administrative & Policy Support: Become familiar with company policies and procedures to answer basic employee questions, while also supporting the daily administrative duties of the human resources team.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Requires a high school senior OR a student currently enrolled in a program to obtain a degree in Human Resources or a business program.
• Experience: Basic computer knowledge is essential for this role.
• Skills: Ability to maintain confidentiality of personnel and company records, excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with staff at all levels, and proven ability to work closely in a team-oriented environment.
