Graduate Assistant (Canyon Ventures) | Grand Canyon University

The Tone:
This is a part-time role at Grand Canyon University, located in Phoenix, Arizona. Grand Canyon University is a regionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian institution dedicated to academic excellence and student success. This Graduate Assistant position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to both the operational success of Canyon Ventures, a university-based startup incubator, and the academic initiatives of the Colangelo College of Business. The role is designed to immerse you in entrepreneurship and venture operations, providing invaluable hands-on experience while upholding CCOB’s core values of servant leadership, innovation, and applied learning.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Venture Operations: Contribute to the smooth day-to-day operations of Canyon Ventures, encompassing meticulous scheduling, space optimization, and coordinating essential resources for the facility.
• Program Execution: Provide robust support for the planning and execution of diverse entrepreneurship programming, including Founder Forums, Demo Days, pitch competitions, and insightful tours.
• Student & Startup Engagement: Serve as a vital link between GCU students and the startup companies, facilitating seamless onboarding for new ventures and connecting students with internships or project opportunities.
• Reporting & Communication: Maintain accurate records of student participation, venture activity, and program outcomes, assisting with the creation of compelling presentations, comprehensive reports, and clear communications.
• Administrative Coordination: Coordinate efforts across various university departments such as Marketing, Finance, Facilities, and Academic Teams to ensure successful initiative execution and strict adherence to all university policies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be admitted to a graduate degree-seeking program at GCU (certificate-only programs do not satisfy this requirement). Must be a current Colangelo College of Business (CCOB) student with a major and/or minor in Entrepreneurial Studies, maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0 throughout employment.
• Experience: Must be enrolled as a “regular” (not provisional) degree-seeking student for at least 6 graduate-level units leading to the degree. Undergraduate or audited courses do not satisfy this requirement.
• Skills: Operational assistance, logistical coordination for events, effective management of shared workspaces, diligent record keeping, content creation for reports and communications, and interdepartmental coordination.
