About the Company:

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Co-Op to join their dynamic geotechnical engineering team. They are dedicated to providing high-level professional services to their clients, particularly in renewable energy and other power-related projects.

Job Description:

The Geotechnical Co-Op will assist senior geotechnical staff with project work involving various aspects of geotechnical engineering. This includes:

Participating in geotechnical site investigations: This involves field work and in-situ testing to gather data about soil and rock conditions.
Assigning and assessing geotechnical laboratory tests: Coordinating and evaluating the results of lab tests performed on soil and rock samples.
Preparing investigation reports: Documenting the findings of site investigations and lab tests.
Applying site data to analyses and design: Using the gathered data to perform geotechnical engineering analyses and design foundations, slopes, and other structures.
Interpreting and analyzing geotechnical data: Determining the type, classification, and engineering characteristics of materials.
Completing or assisting with geotechnical engineering analyses: This may include seepage, slope stability, bearing capacity, rotational stiffness, liquefaction, and settlement analyses.
Keeping management informed: Advising management of work status, workload, problems, and progress.
Participating in proposal preparation: Contributing to proposals, bid documents, capital cost estimates, construction drawings, and design reports.
Construction monitoring/observation: Observing and documenting construction activities to ensure they comply with design specifications.

The role requires flexibility to travel/work in the field for extended periods and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and various terrains associated with construction projects.
