Detailed Job Description: Fire Protection Systems Engineering Intern – Facilities & Operations Services

About the Role: Engineering the Magic with Fire Protection Systems

As a Fire Protection Systems Engineering Intern, you will be deeply involved in the lifecycle of critical safety systems across our magical properties. Working under the guidance of experienced Engineers, your contributions will ensure the highest standards of fire safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Design & Documentation:
    • Assist an Engineer with various tasks related to fire protection systems.
    • Develop comprehensive engineering documentation, including floor plans, detailed schematics/wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, equipment rack assemblies/details, and interconnection diagrams.
    • Prepare detailed equipment installation plans and test plans.
  • Code Compliance & Design Review:
    • Review and interpret relevant codes and standards to ensure project compliance for fire protection systems.
    • Participate in design reviews to verify that all codes, standards, and design requirements are rigorously met.
  • Installation, Testing & Support:
    • Provide essential installation supervision for fire protection systems.
    • Offer support during the testing and adjustment phases of fire protection systems.
    • Assist in the performance of Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) for newly installed or modified fire protection systems.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Solving:
    • Support troubleshooting efforts for existing fire protection systems, which includes taking precise measurements, recording critical data, and contributing to the development of recommended solutions.
  • Professional Development & Special Projects:
    • Actively learn and apply standard engineering techniques, ensuring all assigned designs adhere to appropriate technical standards and regulatory codes.
    • Undertake special tasks and projects as assigned, contributing to various operational initiatives.

What You Bring To The Role:

Essential Skills & Availability:

  • Computer Proficiency: Demonstrated strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Availability: Ability to work various shifts as required by project timelines and operational needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Disney Experience: Successful completion of a Disney College Program or a Disney Professional Internship is highly preferred.

Required Education:

  • Academic Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or Post Graduate degree program at an accredited 4-year college or university.
  • Major: Specialized in Fire Protection Engineering or Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology.
  • Student Status: Must be a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student by the internship arrival date.

Preferred Education:

  • Academic Excellence: A cumulative overall GPA of 3.0 or higher (Note: No rounding up).

Additional Internship Information:

Internship Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participating in the internship program, OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or a Disney Professional Internship.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization for the duration of the internship.

Location & Program Details:

  • Location: This internship opportunity is available in Lake Buena Vista, FL.
  • Program Length: The approximate dates for this internship are June 2026 – December 2026. Interns must be fully available for the entire duration of the program.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Pay Rate:
    • For undergraduate students in Orlando, FL: $31 per hour.
    • For graduate students in Orlando, FL: $36 per hour.
