Financial Analyst | VEIT

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at VEIT, a leading specialty contractor with nearly a century of experience in foundations, earthwork, utilities, and various industrial services. The company prides itself on pushing the construction industry forward, tackling complex projects with a modern fleet and diverse expertise. This role is crucial for supporting the Finance department by providing essential financial reporting, analysis, and project support, ensuring accurate budgeting, forecasting, and data validation. The Financial Analyst I contributes directly to the company’s financial health by managing critical processes like cost-to-complete, backlog reporting, and variance analysis.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Facilitate cost-to-complete review meetings with Project Managers, assisting in documenting over/under billing adjustments, approved change orders, and expected margin changes.
• Track and report on backlog revenue and expected profit margins by compiling data, preparing reports, and escalating any questions or discrepancies for review.
• Support profit fade analysis by collecting data, researching variances, preparing summaries, and assisting with necessary follow-up activities.
• Prepare and process job cost and general ledger adjusting entries for review and approval, in accordance with established Finance procedures.
• Contribute to the development and generation of dashboards and monthly reporting packages for Project Managers, Service Group VPs, and Executive Leaders.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, demonstrating a basic understanding of accounting, finance, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis principles. This is an early-career role.
• Experience: 0–2 years of relevant experience. Proven proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data organization, pivot tables, lookups, and basic financial reporting or analysis.
• Skills: Strong ability to collect, organize, validate, and analyze financial data with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey information to all levels of management, employees, vendors, and business partners. Ability to calculate figures and amounts, including discounts, interest, variances, and percentages, and to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Bonus: Experience in construction accounting, CCIFP certification or an interest in pursuing certification, or exposure to Viewpoint Vista, HCSS, Spreadsheet Server, Power BI, SQL, or Crystal Reports is preferred.
