Finance Manager | Greystar

The Tone:
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract role at Greystar, located in Birmingham, United Kingdom, providing maternity cover. Greystar is a leading, fully integrated global real estate platform specializing in property management, investment management, development, and construction services for institutional-quality rental housing. This role is critical for overseeing external reporting, investment accounting, and managing asset acquisitions and disposals across Greystar’s student and multifamily portfolios.

What You’ll Actually Do
• External Reporting: Oversee and produce all external financial reporting for property portfolios, including statutory accounts for entities, and prepare comprehensive investor and lender reports.
• Capital & Transaction Management: Prepare capital and return schedules, investor capital calls, and distribution statements, and lead the end-to-end process for asset and portfolio acquisitions and disposals.
• Audit & Outsourced Provider Oversight: Lead the annual audit process, managing relationships with local auditor teams and outsourced investment accounting providers, and reviewing consolidated financial statements.
• Financial Planning & Business Partnering: Provide key input into the annual planning and budgeting process, ensuring compliance with proforma models, and partner with Operational and Development Finance teams.
• Technical Accounting & Stakeholder Support: Prepare technical and process accounting memos for new reporting standards, review new portfolio and facility agreements, and respond to ad-hoc requests from investors and stakeholders.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduate calibre with an accounting foundation, holding a qualified accountant designation (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
• Experience: Extensive experience within the Real Estate sector, with demonstrated expertise in IFRS, UK GAAP, debt compliance, and investor reporting. Experience in engaging and collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Skills: Strong working knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP, VAT and Company/SPV Structures. Ability to manipulate and sort large volumes of data efficiently in Excel. Good communication skills, with the ability to review, interpret, and present complex financial data to various audiences. Strong commercial focus, organizational skills, and the ability to meet multiple deadlines.
• Bonus: Experience in acquisition accounting, including financial due diligence, and previous experience with Yardi financial accounting and property management software.
