Finance Intern | Etched

The Tone:
This is a Finance Intern internship at Etched, located in San Jose, CA. Etched is a company dedicated to building hardware for frontier intelligence, specifically co-designing chips, racks, software, and manufacturing to achieve best-in-class performance for AI inference workloads. This role is essential for navigating the operational complexities of a rapidly growing company, requiring the intern to both tackle strategic financial challenges and execute critical day-to-day finance operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategic Challenges: Tackle strategic financial challenges, including deciding pricing, SKUs, and establishing unit economics for hardware products.
• Finance Operations: Execute on day-to-day finance operations, assisting with accounting and developing financing strategies.
• Financial Modeling: Drive financial models to support understanding of key strategic issues across the organization, from supply chain to product development.
• Vendor Management: Assist with processing purchase orders and managing accounts payable.
• Functional Learning: Gain hands-on experience across critical finance functions such as FP&A, accounting operations, vendor payments, and pricing/unit economics modeling.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Current university student applying for Fall ’26, Spring ’27, or Summer ’27 internships, possessing a foundational understanding of cash flow management, bank reconciliation, and general bookkeeping practices.
• Experience: Prior internship experience within consulting, banking, or early-stage startup environments is preferred, alongside a demonstrated track record of excellent project management and data analysis skills.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, including basic financial modeling capabilities; a willingness to engage in a broad spectrum of finance, accounting, and general operations work; practical understanding of cash flow management, bank reconciliation, and bookkeeping; strong project management and data analysis abilities.
• Bonus: Demonstrated technical curiosity through experience, education, or interest in computer science, electrical engineering, artificial intelligence, or a related technical field; deep curiosity about the broader AI ecosystem, including emerging trends, cutting-edge technologies, and industry innovations; interest in specific aspects of startup finance such such as equity, cap tables, and fundraising processes.
