Job Description: Finance Intern

AARP Innovation Lab’s Finance Team seeks a finance intern to support business and financial operations within the AgeTech Collaborative™ (ATC). This paid internship offers practical experience in a results-driven, innovative environment. The internship is anticipated to begin in Spring 2025 and may continue throughout the year.

Responsibilities:

Procurement and Contract Management: Applying AARP’s procurement policies to establish new vendors, draft contractual agreements (Statements of Work, Sponsorship Agreements, Speaker Agreements, etc.), and prepare purchase requests.
Accounts Payable and Payment Processing: Ensuring timely and accurate payments by preparing check requests, wire transfers, and invoice submissions.
Financial Reporting and Analysis: Applying GAAP while assisting with the monthly close process (reviewing results, preparing and reclassing journal entries).
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assisting in the quarterly forecast and annual budgeting process.
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Facilitation: Facilitating the execution of MOUs with startups participating in ATC’s Accelerator program.
Records Management: Ensuring compliance with AARP’s Records Management Information Policies for contracts and investments.
Additional Projects: Supporting the team on other projects as needed.

Qualifications:

Preferred: Enrollment in an MBA program with a finance or accounting concentration.
Required: Enrollment in an accredited college/university (rising undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or post-doctoral student) and maintaining enrollment throughout the internship; OR, previous college graduation and enrollment in a continuing education program.
Required: Self-starter, adaptable to tight deadlines, results-driven, proficient in Microsoft Office.
Plus: Familiarity with ERP and EPM systems.

Compensation and Benefits:

• hourly rate: $18 (undergraduates), $21 (graduate students), $28 (Ph.D. candidates).
• Internship is a non-exempt position and does not include employee benefits. AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position.

Work Environment: Hybrid (in-office/remote), with Mondays and Fridays typically remote (except for essential functions). Remote work is limited to the United States and its territories.
