Finance Intern | Etched

The Tone:
This is a Finance Internship at Etched, located in San Jose, CA. Etched is an organization focused on building hardware for frontier intelligence, specializing in co-designing chips, racks, software, and manufacturing to deliver best-in-class throughput and latency for inference workloads. The company aims to redefine the infrastructure layer for the rapidly expanding AI industry, supported by significant investment and a team of leading engineers. This role is crucial for addressing the operational and strategic financial challenges inherent in a scaling hardware company, from managing unit economics and pricing to executing daily finance operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Strategy: Tackle strategic financial challenges related to pricing, SKUs, unit economics, and financing strategies.
• Financial Modeling: Drive comprehensive financial models to support critical business decisions and planning.
• Accounting Operations: Assist with daily finance operations, including processing purchase orders and managing accounts payable.
• Operational Insights: Learn about and contribute to key strategic issues across the organization, spanning supply chain and product development.
• Financial Analysis: Gain practical experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), accounting operations, vendor payments, and pricing/unit economics modeling.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student for Fall ’26, Spring ’27, or Summer ’27 internship periods, with an understanding of core financial principles including cash flow management, bank reconciliation, and bookkeeping.
• Experience: Previous internship experience gained within consulting, banking, or early startup environments.
• Skills: Demonstrated track record of excellent project management and data analysis skills; comfort using Excel/Sheets for basic financial modeling; willingness to engage in a broad set of finance, accounting, and general operations work.
• Bonus: Technical Curiosity: exposure to or interest in computer science, electrical engineering, artificial intelligence, or related fields. Industry interest: deep curiosity about the AI ecosystem, including emerging trends, technologies, and innovations. Startup Acumen: interest in startup finance concepts such as equity, cap tables, and fundraising processes.
