Finance Associate | Hudbay Minerals U.S. Business Unit

The Tone:
This is a full-time, regular role at Hudbay Minerals U.S. Business Unit, located in Tucson, AZ. Hudbay is a copper-focused mining company with three long-life operations and a world-class pipeline of copper growth projects across Canada, Peru, and the United States. As a key contributor to the finance team, this role supports the U.S. business unit in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting daily operations. The position embodies Hudbay’s purpose to provide essential metals the world needs sustainably, transforming lives and creating better futures for communities.

• Tech Stack: SAP (or willingness to learn), Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Vendor and Contract Management: Assist with the onboarding of new vendors, manage vendor inquiries, and help maintain accurate vendor and contract records.
• Operational Accounting Support: Support daily accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice reconciliation and payment tracking.
• General Ledger Assistance: Assist in preparing and posting journal entries, and support month-end and year-end close activities.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Help gather and analyze financial data to support internal reporting and provide insights to leadership.
• Process Improvement: Identify and propose solutions to streamline financial processes within the U.S. business unit.

• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field, demonstrating a strong foundational understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis. • Experience: This is an entry-level position seeking a professional with a foundational understanding of finance and accounting principles, who is eager to learn and develop in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP) is valuable, or a willingness and aptitude to learn such systems quickly is required.
• Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions like pivot tables and VLOOKUPs. Possesses exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy, alongside strong communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
