The Tone:
This is an internship at DreamWorks Animation, located in Glendale, CA. DreamWorks Animation is a leading studio that produces high-quality, award-winning animated films and series, creating diverse original content with unique characters for a global audience. This role offers interns the chance to work alongside creative leaders and artists in an inclusive and collaborative environment, gaining hands-on experience in TV and feature animated productions. The program aims to immerse students and recent graduates in the studio’s operations, providing valuable exposure to the animation industry.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Part-Time (24 hours per week required)
• Location: In-person, Glendale, CA (Tuesday – Thursday). This is a hybrid position, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office, increasing to four days per week starting January 5, 2026.
• Pay: $17.87 hourly
• Mission: This intern will be exposed to the inner-workings of the television animation development and current process from beginning to end, providing a creative point of view on content to high-level executives.
• Tech Stack: Photoshop, Word, PowerPoint
What You’ll Actually Do
• Provide Creative Input: Shadow high-level executives and share creative viewpoints on content across both the Development and Production teams.
• Evaluate Creative Content: Gain exposure to reading scripts, reviewing designs, and attending work-in-progress episode screenings.
• Conduct Industry Research: Research books, writers, and artists to support development efforts.
• Develop Presentation Materials: Build pitch decks and collaborate with production teams to gather assets for department presentations.
• Manage Content Submissions: Submit writers and pitches into the department’s internal databases.
• Present a Final Project: Create a final presentation on an approved theme of personal interest and deliver it to executives at the conclusion of the internship.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree at a college/university (or equivalent), or be a recent graduate (within six months of graduation date). Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience: Experience with Photoshop and experienced with internet market research. Must be willing to work in Glendale, California, and able to provide own relocation, housing, and transportation.
• Skills: Ability to transcribe recordings of meetings, along with strong writing, communication, and presentation skills. An interest in programming for all demographics is also required.
• Bonus: Curiosity about animation is a plus. Knowledge of programs like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and video editing software is preferred. Current class standing of Junior or above (or equivalent) is also desired.
