Facilities Intern | ENGIE North America

The Tone:
This is a Facilities Intern position at ENGIE North America, located in Boston, MA. ENGIE North America is actively leading the Zero-Carbon Transition by developing energy solutions that are renewable, efficient, and accessible to everyone. In this role, the intern will play a critical part in supporting the operations of the Medical Area Total Energy Plant (MATEP), ensuring compliance with vital safety and environmental regulations. This work contributes directly to ENGIE’s commitment to responsible energy generation and a fulfilling professional experience.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Full-time
• Location: In-person, Boston, MA
• Pay: $24.50–$25.50 hourly
• Team: Reports to the Operations Manager.
• Mission: Assist with developing and managing operation programs related to OSHA regulations and state and federal environmental requirements at MATEP.
• Tech Stack: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Development: Assist the Operations Department Manager in developing and managing all operational programs related to OSHA regulations and state and federal environmental requirements.
• Compliance Management: Directly manage specific compliance programs, including the trap program, ensuring its effective execution and adherence to standards.
• Documentation Review & Organization: Conduct thorough reviews of operational procedures and log sheets, overseeing their proper storage and organization, alongside arranging computer manuals and drives.
• Emergency Response Support: Contribute to planning and supporting emergency response efforts within the facility, ensuring preparedness and swift action.
• Safety & Environmental Enhancement: Aid in the development and completion of environmental and safety metrics, conduct safety equipment inventories, and perform inspections aimed at reducing workplace injuries and risks.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently an undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Facilities Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, or Marine Engineering from an accepted four-year university.
• Experience: Candidates should possess junior professional experience (less than 3 years). The role requires consistent attendance at a worksite daily, with scheduled availability for at least forty hours during standard working hours (7:30 am – 4 pm) in Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday.
• Skills: Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, alongside the ability to consistently meet high attendance requirements.
• Bonus: Possession of a valid U.S. driver’s license, willingness and ability to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies, and the ability to work internally in the physical plant and externally on the facility’s grounds or at satellite facilities.
