Exhibit Content Development Collegiate Internship | Museum of Science

This is a collegiate internship at Museum of Science, located in Boston, MA, with hybrid work options. The Museum of Science is one of the world’s largest science centers, dedicated to equipping and inspiring everyone to use science for the global good. This role is crucial in developing engaging and accessible science exhibitions, providing practical experience and training in science communication and exhibit development within a collaborative museum environment.

• Mission: Support the development and refurbishment of science exhibitions by contributing to content, educational goals, and visitor experiences.
• Tech Stack: Word processing and spreadsheet applications.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Collaborate: Develop engaging content and interactive concepts for exhibitions that convey intended educational messages.
• Research: Conduct independent literature reviews on STEM topics, building working knowledge for current projects and sharing insights with content developers.
• Prototype: Facilitate formative prototyping and iteration of exhibit components, using visitor feedback to suggest improvements for accessibility and engagement.
• Draft: Support lead content developers by drafting and revising clear and accurate copy for print labels, scripts, captions, and exhibit descriptions.
• Coordinate: Identify and coordinate appropriate media assets, such as images and videos, and assist in maintaining project documentation and resources.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student with demonstrated interest and experience in science research or science communication, and a desire to communicate complex STEM topics to the public.
• Experience: Strong independent research skills with the ability to organize ideas and documentation effectively.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proactive approach to colleague communication.
• Bonus: Demonstrated interest in supporting the development and evaluation of experiences that promote diversity, equity, accessibility, inclusion, and belonging.
