The Tone:
This is a full-time role based at Neurocrine Biosciences, a leading neuroscience-focused biopharmaceutical company. The company discovers and develops life-changing treatments for patients with under-addressed neurological, neuroendocrine, and neuropsychiatric disorders. This position is critical for developing and executing the Neurology strategy and driving clinical programs focused on pediatric neurological diseases, such as epilepsy and neurodevelopmental disorders, to relieve suffering for people with great needs. The role requires a seasoned leader to oversee clinical development, ensuring strategic advancement and medical oversight of groundbreaking therapies.

• Mission: Lead the development and execution of the Neurology strategy and drive clinical programs for pediatric neurological diseases like epilepsy and neurodevelopmental disorders.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Drive clinical strategy: Oversee the development and execution of neurology strategy, guiding clinical programs through all phases of development.
• Lead clinical studies: Serve as the clinical or program lead for developing clinical research strategies, planning, and independently directing Phase 1-4 studies with cross-functional teams.
• Provide medical oversight: Offer essential medical input and decisions as the Sponsor medical monitor to study teams, external partners, and clinical sites.
• Establish scientific methods: Approve scientific methods for designing clinical protocols, collecting data, analyzing results, and preparing final reports.
• Collaborate strategically: Participate in the Neurology Therapeutic Area Strategy Group to evolve R&D strategy, collaborate on biomarker development, and assess external innovation with Business Development.

The Must-Haves
• Background: MD or equivalent degree with accredited residency training and board certification in Pediatric Neurology.
• Experience: 8+ years in clinical drug development (Phase 1-3) within a pharmaceutical/biotechnology company, including significant experience in a senior leadership role.
• Skills: Extensive knowledge of clinical drug development including planning, US and global regulatory requirements, study design, biostatistics, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP); ability to operate effectively in a multi-level matrix corporate environment; first-hand clinical and research expertise in neurology; exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and communication abilities; excellent project leadership skills.
• Bonus: Advanced degree (MS, PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline; demonstrated success leading clinical programs in neurological and/or rare disease, with recent experience in pediatric epilepsy and/or neurodevelopmental disorders; experience in developing various treatment modalities (small molecules, biologic/genetic therapies).
