Events Intern | VGM Group, Inc.
The Tone:
This is an internship at VGM Group, Inc., located in Waterloo, IA. VGM is a 100% employee-owned company that provides a wide range of business and professional services to thousands of customers across North America, including group purchasing, commercial insurance, healthcare management, and marketing. This role is crucial in supporting the Corporate Communications & Events team, assisting with the planning and execution of vital internal and external meetings, events, tradeshows, and conferences across VGM’s diverse business units. Your contributions will help ensure successful gatherings and effective communication strategies.

• Team: Corporate Communications & Events (shared service supporting VGM Group)
• Mission: Assist the events team with the comprehensive planning, coordination, and evaluation of internal and external meetings, events, tradeshows, and conferences for VGM Group companies.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Planning: Plan and coordinate monthly employee appreciation events from conception through implementation.
• Organization: Organize a variety of internal and external events to support VGM Group’s business units.
• Procurement: Manage the request, ordering, review, and approval process for event collateral materials and premium items.
• Financial Tracking: Track and accurately record all invoices and expenses related to event activities.
• Record Maintenance: Maintain precise and organized records for all events and associated orders.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Junior or senior standing, pursuing a major or emphasis in public relations, marketing, or communications.
• Experience: No specific prior professional experience required, as this role is designed for skill development within event management.
• Skills:
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and details simultaneously.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills for various interactions.
• Capability to work cooperatively within a team environment and adapt to change.
