This is a full-time position at Specialized Fire & Security, Inc., located in Riverdale, NJ. Specialized Fire & Security, Inc. is a well-established full-service company, operating for over 25 years, specializing in fire alarm and suppression supply and service. As one of the largest fire protection companies, they provide high-quality industrial and commercial fire protection systems and services. This role is crucial for supporting the rapidly growing Estimating Team, as it involves compiling essential information, building accurate bills of material, and generating comprehensive proposals that clearly define the scope of work. Estimators are on the front lines, ensuring projects are completely covered for clients and the entire company.

• Team: Member of the Estimating Team, reporting directly to the Estimating Manager
• Mission: To compile necessary project information, build comprehensive bills of material, and generate clear proposals for fire alarm and suppression system projects.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Analysis: Analyze blueprints, specifications, and technical documents to gain a thorough understanding of projects and prepare accurate time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner collaboratively with internal cross-functional teams, including design engineering, productions, sales, and finance, to understand project requirements and ensure alignment to scope, schedule, and budget.
• Documentation Management: Build a comprehensive project binder that consists of all documentation used to complete a take-off.
• Proposal Generation: Generate detailed proposals that include the labor and materials needed to cover the scope of work gained from a completed take-off.
• Issue Resolution: Consult with the Engineering department, Field engineers, Project Managers, and other Estimating Team members to discuss, formulate estimates, and resolve any arising issues.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Professional capability in compiling information for takeoffs, building bills of material, and creating comprehensive proposals for industrial and commercial fire protection systems.
• Experience: Proven ability to analyze blueprints, specifications, and technical documents to prepare accurate time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. Demonstrated capacity to consult with various internal departments and resolve issues related to estimates.
• Skills: Blueprint analysis, specification interpretation, technical documentation review, bill of material creation, proposal generation, cross-functional collaboration.
