Investment Banking Analyst Syndicate – Equity Capital Markets | William Blair

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at William Blair, located in Chicago, IL. William Blair is a global partnership dedicated to delivering trusted advice and solutions across investment banking, investment management, and private wealth management. This role is crucial for supporting the firm’s Equity Capital Markets (ECM) operations by facilitating the marketing and execution of equity syndicate transactions, contributing to market intelligence, and fostering client relationships. The Analyst will play a key role in ensuring efficient processes and delivering comprehensive insights to both internal and external stakeholders.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Syndicate Management: Participate in the marketing of all Equity Syndicate transactions and manage each transaction within dedicated syndicate software.
• Relationship Building: Cultivate relationships with internal and external clients across Investment Banking, Institutional Sales, and peer investment banks.
• Market Analysis: Research current and prospective client companies, comparable companies and transactions, potential institutional investors, and capital markets trends.
• Financial Modeling: Build and audit fully integrated financial models, including IPO and comparable company trading and valuation analyses.
• Content Creation: Compile and prepare marketing materials detailing the William Blair ECM perspective and recommendation on capital markets, highlighting the firm’s equity and distribution platform.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree required; One to three years of experience in equity capital markets, equity research, equity sales & trading, investment banking, wealth management, or other deal structured environment.
• Experience: Required to acquire SIE Exam, Series 79, and Series 63 within 150 days of employment.
• Skills: Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities, excellent mathematical, writing, verbal and computer skills, and a thorough understanding of accounting and finance.
• Bonus: Proven track record in university studies, ability to adapt to new tasks, work on multiple projects simultaneously, strong desire to win, and developing sound judgment.
