Job Description
The Environmental Safety & Health (ESH) Internship offers a valuable opportunity to support a 200,000 square foot automotive parts manufacturing facility, housing approximately 400 employees, located in New Braunfels, Texas. This facility represents a $110 million investment and specializes in manufacturing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems for automated and assisted driving.
This position serves as a developmental role, designed to provide practical experience within the ESH function and support the departmental needs in a dynamic 24/7 manufacturing plant environment. The ESH Intern will play a crucial role in contributing to the successful operations of the location. This internship is scheduled for a duration of 12 weeks, commencing from May 18, 2026, to August 7, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates the work environment for occupational safety, environmental protection, fire protection, security, and health.
- Assist with the development and implementation of ESH related processes in the location to ensure legal compliance as well as emergency response planning/execution.
- Conduct occupational safety checks before the start of operation of equipment and machines.
- Utilize Risk Assessment methods to generate safety analyses and concepts as well as emergency preparedness plans.
- Aid management in program elements to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding control and disposal of waste.
- Assist with emergency response planning and execution.
Outcomes and Focus Projects
The Environmental Safety & Health Intern can expect to gain practical experience in a broad range of ESH topics. Focus projects may include, but are not limited to:
- Risk Assessments for new equipment
- Lockout Tagout program enhancements
- Ergonomics evaluations
- Recycling and Environmental Sustainability
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited University Degree Program.
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in occupational safety and health, environmental sciences, engineering, or natural science, with proof of functional knowledge of occupational safety and/or environmental protection.
- 3.0 overall GPA or higher.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
- Continental is not able to pay relocation expenses for this opportunity.
