The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Environmental Engineering Intern to become a vital part of our EHS Compliance team in our Detroit, MI office. This is an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a leading global professional services company.

In this role, you will contribute to critical projects focused on the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental hazards. You will engage in research, design, planning, and performance of engineering duties, applying various engineering disciplines. Your work may encompass essential areas such as waste treatment, site remediation, and pollution control technology, directly contributing to a healthier, more sustainable environment.

Key Responsibilities

Working within an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a diverse range of responsibilities, allowing you to develop a broad skill set:

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Accurately collect and input data from standard sources into specified formats to produce reliable reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engineering Drawings: Assist in the creation of engineering drawings under the guidance of senior colleagues, contributing to the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions.
  • Engineering Solutions Design: Support the development and feasibility testing of proposed engineering solutions, providing crucial feedback and data to validate design effectiveness.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Adhere strictly to organizational HSE policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions. Actively identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to personal and team well-being. Promote safe working methods and take appropriate action on risky behaviors, escalating serious issues as necessary.
  • Technical Developments Recommendation: Research and propose technical advancements to enhance the quality of our digital platforms (website/portal/software) and supporting infrastructure, ensuring they effectively meet user needs.
  • Personal Capability Building: Actively engage in personal and professional development through assessment, planning, formal and informal training, and coaching. Continuously update your understanding of relevant technology, external regulations, and industry best practices through ongoing education, conferences, and specialist media.
  • Research: Provide comprehensive research support for various projects and initiatives, gathering critical information to inform decision-making.
  • Testing: Contribute to the development of testing standards and procedures, working under the direct supervision of experienced professionals.
  • Project Management Support: Assist with a range of project management activities, learning the fundamentals of project planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Waste Management: Support critical waste management efforts, including aiding in waste reduction programs, segregation, proper storage, transportation logistics, and responsible disposal practices.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Perform routine technical troubleshooting tasks, including basic diagnostics and simple problem-solving related to equipment and experimental setups.

What You Will Bring To The Team

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in an Environmental Engineering or equivalent Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program.

Experience:
