The Tone:
This is a temporary-to-hire role at Ledgent, located in Fontana, CA. This position supports the foundational accounting operations for a client company, ensuring financial records are accurate and processes run smoothly. The Staff Accountant plays a crucial part in managing daily financial transactions, supporting month-end close, and contributing to overall financial integrity. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of financial data and supporting operational efficiency.

• Mission: Own daily financial transaction processing and assist with critical month-end accounting procedures to maintain accurate financial records.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger Management: Assist in maintaining accurate general ledger accounts and post routine journal entries.
• Accounts Payable Operations: Process vendor invoices, match purchase orders, verify approvals, and prepare weekly payment batches.
• Accounts Receivable Operations: Generate and issue customer invoices, record incoming payments, and assist with soft collections outreach.
• Financial Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations, identifying and investigating discrepancies.
• Month-End Support: Support the Accounting Manager/Controller with month-end close activities, accrued expenses, and balance sheet account reconciliations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience/associate degree. This is an entry-level position focused on core accounting principles.
• Experience: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and basic formulas. A solid understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP) is required.
• Skills: Strong numerical accuracy, high attention to detail, good verbal communication skills, good written communication skills, ability to handle confidential financial information with high discretion.
• Bonus: Familiarity with ERP software is a plus, especially Batchmaster.
