The Tone:
This is a full-time, entry-level staff accountant role at The Bonadio Group, located in Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, or Syracuse, Upstate New York. What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting and Preparation: Prepare financial statements based on team needs, which may include compilations and reviews, or assist with the preparation of complex federal, state, and local tax returns for businesses and individuals across various industries.
• Technology and Quality Assurance: Utilize modern accounting technology to deliver high-quality results, adhere to firm practice-management guidelines, and follow quality-control procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Professional Standards and Issue Resolution: Develop familiarity with professional standards by learning key pronouncements issued by bodies such as FASB, AICPA, GAO, and GASB, identifying accounting or tax issues and applying appropriate accounting principles to find practical resolutions.
• Client Relationship and Project Management: Build strong, professional client relationships from the start, communicating proactively and effectively with team members, managers, and clients, while managing timelines, budgets, and schedules to meet client expectations.
• Advisory and Development Support: Engage in client special projects by preparing and/or reviewing budget analyses and cash-flow projections, and contribute to a learning-focused environment by potentially assisting in the training, developing, and mentoring of staff and interns.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting with CPA eligibility.
• Experience: Less than one year of professional accounting experience.
• Skills: Demonstrated progress toward CPA certification, a tech-savvy mindset with confidence in using Microsoft Office and accounting software, strong communication skills and professional presence, and a passion for delivering exceptional client service.
