About the Job
Commonwealth Engineers, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Civil or Environmental Engineer for our South Bend, IN office. This is an excellent opportunity for a pending or recent graduate interested in pursuing a professional engineering career.

- Site civil work
- Sustainable infrastructure
Responsibilities
As part of a project team, you will help communities and industries solve challenging environmental infrastructure problems. Our team-based culture fosters learning and growth for entry-level engineers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing assignments applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to engineering tasks.
- Working under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
- Performing sub-professional engineering tasks such as:
- Field work
- Inspections
- Engineering reports
- Permits
- Construction engineering
- Simple design calculations
- Coordinating with contractors.
- Reviewing construction drawings and specifications.
- Contacting government officials for permits.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- Education: B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Foundational Skills: Basic engineering principles and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Logistics: Valid driver’s license.
- Problem Solving: Ability to apply technical skills to meet project demands and solve client problems.
- Work Ethic: Positive attitude, impressive work ethic, clear sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet deadlines, attention to detail, and ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
- Passion: Demonstrated drive to achieve goals.
Preferred (a plus):
- Graduate degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam certification.
