Job Description:
Xcimer Energy is offering an Engineering Internship Program for the summer, providing a hands-on experience in designing and building cutting-edge laser-driven inertial fusion hardware and software. This 12-week program is based at the company’s headquarters in Denver, CO.

Interns will play an integral role in developing the systems required for the world’s first commercial fusion energy power plant. They will work alongside an industry expert mentor to address complex, real-world challenges.

Key Areas of Focus & Responsibilities (will vary by intern’s expertise and interests):
Mechanical design and hardware development
Mechanical and thermal analysis using finite element analysis
Systems engineering
Manufacturing engineering
Electrical engineering (pulsed power)
Control systems engineering
Computational and software engineering (simulations)
Nuclear engineering
Optical engineering
Plasma physics

Qualifications:
Education: Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree program from an accredited college or university in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, nuclear engineering, or other related engineering discipline.
Experience: Demonstrated application of technical skills outside of the classroom (e.g., extracurricular projects, volunteering, personal projects, laboratory research, or prior internship/work experience).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software for 3D modeling and simulation.
Communication: Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Motivation: A passion for fusion energy.
Availability: Ability to work full-time onsite through the entire 12-week internship program in Denver, CO.
Eligibility: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Compensation:
Interns will be compensated hourly based on their academic level:
Undergraduate intern: $25/hour
Masters intern: $30/hour
PhD intern: $35/hour
