Job Description:

Engineering Interns at The Boring Company will have responsibilities nearly equivalent to a full-time employee. Specific roles and locations are detailed below:

Mechanical Engineering (Bastrop & Vegas): Design or support the design of various systems and sub-systems related to tunneling operations. This includes work on boring machine parts, support systems, support system equipment, tunnel segment production, passenger/construction vehicles, and tunnel infrastructure.

Electrical Engineering (Bastrop & Vegas): Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical instrumentation in tunnels and on tunnel boring machines (TBMs).

Software Engineering (Bastrop & Vegas):
Bastrop: Focus on building automation and application software for next-generation TBMs. This involves designing and implementing tools to operate, analyze, and control TBMs used in building underground transportation systems and Hyperloops.
Vegas: Focus on the Las Vegas Loop project. This involves designing and developing tools for collecting, analyzing, and displaying data from thousands of daily rides and gigabytes of collected data.

Civil Engineering (Bastrop & Vegas): Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to assist in the preparation of civil engineering details, design plans, reports, and meeting exhibits.

Test Engineering (Bastrop Only): Design and conduct experiments to optimize the tunneling process (increase speed, reduce cost) and improve machine reliability.

Integration Engineering (Bastrop Only): Review and provide feedback on the performance, manufacturability, and simplicity of designs. Determine critical project schedule paths and drive development and implementation on those critical items.

Field Engineering Operations (Vegas Only): Track and report on daily activities in the tunnel and on the launch site. Assist with site surveying and determining site conditions for in-ground infrastructure.
