PlusAI is a Physical AI company that pioneers AI-based virtual driver software for factory-built autonomous trucks. This role offers a significant opportunity to work, learn, and grow within a future-oriented field, contributing to the development and validation of critical safety components. You will make a substantial impact by ensuring the reliability and safety of next-generation autonomous trucks through the validation of the Safety Processor, a robust and high-availability component that monitors for faults and manages redundant systems within the autonomous driving system.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person, Santa Clara, CA
• Pay: $19–$65 hourly
• Team: Systems and Safety team, responsible for the validation of the Safety Processor.
• Mission: Validate the Safety Processor by automating test report generation, analyzing critical functionalities, and ensuring the integrity of recorded data for autonomous trucks.
• Tech Stack: Python, C++, linux based tools

What You’ll Actually Do
• Automate: Develop methods to automate the generation of test reports, significantly reducing manual effort and time in the validation process.
• Analyze: Conduct detailed analysis on various Safety Processor functionalities, including redundant takeover detection, steering angle and angle rate limitation, speed limitation, and brake effort limitation.
• Document: Integrate analyzed results and proper test evidence directly into the Plus Requirements Management System to maintain robust documentation and traceability.
• Discover: Identify and report any abnormal characteristics within analyzed CAN data, such as unauthorized step changes or instances of CAN data loss.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Actively pursuing a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related engineering field, demonstrating a foundational understanding of complex system design and validation.
• Experience: Prior experience or research engagement in Autonomous Driving, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), or Robotics, showcasing familiarity with relevant domain challenges.
