Job Description: Engineering Intern (Anchorage, AK)
This internship offers an opportunity to assist Discipline Engineers, Project Engineers, Project Managers, and/or the Engineering Manager across all aspects of project engineering, from proposal development to final reporting.
Location: Anchorage, AK (On-Site)
Internship Duration: June to August (with flexibility based on individual availability)
Lodging & Transportation: NANA will provide lodging and transportation for applicants outside the Anchorage/Matsu Valley area.

Responsibilities:
• Support engineers in research and analysis of data, such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals, to determine the feasibility of design or application.
• Review project drawings, standards, and specifications for completeness and accuracy.
• Assist engineers with major equipment and material selection, and construction specifications.
• Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
• Produce CAD models/detail drawings.
• Apply design standards and procedures to implement basic design.
• Ensure all assigned activities and operations comply with applicable codes, regulations, and laws.
• Assist with the preparation of estimates, cost reports, forecasts, schedules, account codes, budgets, and change orders.
• Coordinate quantity estimates by obtaining and analyzing data on unit labor costs and unit material costs.
• Update estimates, schedules, reports, drawings, and documents based on revisions and changes to the project.
• Assist with the preparation of final project reports, including obtaining historical data and information.
• Conduct quality checks of databases, documents, and reports to verify the accuracy of data, information, and calculations.
• Assist in preparing, maintaining, and filing departmental policies, procedures, and manuals.
• Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff, and company information.
• Perform other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success as assigned.
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
• Must be a shareholder of NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., or a direct descendant of a shareholder. In accordance with NANA’s Shareholder Preference Hiring Policy, priority will be given to NANA shareholders first, followed by shareholder descendants.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must be currently enrolled full-time in college or a vocational school and have completed one semester of postsecondary education.
• Must be declared in a major/program of Engineering, Engineering Management, or a closely related field.
• Intermediate skillset with MS Word processing software and MS Excel spreadsheet software.
• Some exposure to computer-aided drafting and engineering software preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
• A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NANA’s vehicle insurance policy.

• Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, clients, or employees of the organization.
• Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
