Job Description (Engineering Intern):
This is for an Engineering Intern position at General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS). The primary objective of this role is to support technical projects and provide the intern with the opportunity to enhance their skills while working in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
The intern will be involved in various aspects of software and system development, including:
• Participating in the full software life-cycle development using object-oriented methodologies.
• Assisting with design activities.
• Implementing software using C/C++ or scripting languages.
• Investigating and solving problem reports.
• Integrating and testing software and systems.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
• Candidates must demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology.
• Enrollment in an accredited degree program is mandatory, with preferred fields including Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related scientific or technical disciplines.
• A minimum academic standing of sophomore or higher is preferred.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed at their facilities.
• The ability to perform the core responsibilities is also implied as a requirement: participating in full software life-cycle development using object-oriented methodologies, assisting with design activities, implementing software in C/C++ or scripting languages, investigating and solving problem reports, and integrating and testing software and systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
• A GPA of 3.00 or higher.
• An academic standing of Junior or higher by June 1, 2019.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams.
• Participation in extracurricular and community service activities.
• Possession of previous internships.
• Availability for a year-round Co-Op with flexible leave.
