Role Summary

The Engineering Co-op plays a crucial support role for the End-User Aftermarket Application Engineering team and local Sales Engineers. This position involves a variety of business activities focused on mechanical seals, seal support systems, and pumps.

Key responsibilities will include collaborating on equipment surveys and data acquisition for rotating equipment at customer facilities, preparing “as found” condition reports for failed components, conducting research for application-specific information, and actively supporting key initiatives as directed by local management.

This Co-Op/Internship is scheduled to commence in the next few months and offers flexibility to be either a part-time or full-time position, depending on the candidate’s availability.

Location: Rancho Dominguez, CA.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the equipment survey process and the utilization of the Flowstar.net program.
• Assist with inventory survey and consolidation efforts.
• Contribute to daily progress toward objectives as established by the Engineering Manager.
• Examine failed products, providing both written and oral explanations to relevant Flowserve personnel.
• Develop and acquire a basic knowledge of pump and mechanical seal fundamentals to effectively support Flowserve activities.
• Establish and maintain professional working relationships with Application Engineers, Sales Engineers, the Regional Reliability Engineer, and the Engineering Manager.
• Attend and provide support for meetings as designated by management.
• Support key initiatives specifically for the local Flowserve Quick Response Center.

Requirements

• Enrollment in good standing in a BS in Mechanical Engineering program at an accredited university.
• Good communication skills, both written and oral, and strong general computer proficiency.
• Proficiency in Microsoft programs is a must.
• Ability to utilize measuring equipment (e.g., dial calipers, micrometers, etc.) is a plus.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities effectively in a self-directed environment.
• Ability to learn quickly and develop strong troubleshooting skills.
• Strong work ethic with a positive attitude.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to travel occasionally to support needs within the West Coast Region.

Compensation & Location

• The pay range for this Co-Op/Internship is $16.71 – $25.06 USD Hourly, with the exact rate depending upon the candidate’s level of experience.
• Location: Rancho Dominguez, CA.
