The Tone:
This is a full-time role at ICF, available U.S. Remote (Reston, VA preferred). ICF helps clients navigate the rapidly evolving energy landscape through market analysis, forecasting, transaction support, strategic advisory services, and regulatory expertise. This role is crucial for evaluating investment opportunities, assessing risks, and developing strategies for leading energy industry participants in an increasingly complex energy environment. You will gain exposure to a broad range of technical, financial, and strategic issues affecting U.S. electricity markets.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analyze: Perform quantitative, economic, and technical analyses of U.S. power markets using commercial models, proprietary tools, and large datasets.
• Forecast: Develop long-term forecasts of energy, capacity, ancillary service, and renewable energy market outcomes.
• Evaluate: Assess renewable energy, battery storage, conventional generation, transmission, and emerging energy investments.
• Support: Assist with asset valuations, project financing analyses, acquisition due diligence, and M&A support engagements.
• Communicate: Prepare client presentations, technical reports, and market insights that effectively communicate complex findings to diverse audiences.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Operations Research, Mathematics, Energy Systems, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience: 2 to 8+ years of experience in energy markets, power systems, energy economics, market analysis, consulting, trading, or utility planning.
• Skills: Analytical and problem-solving skills, experience using Excel and quantitative analysis tools, and experience with Python, R, or SQL.
• Bonus: Experience with power market simulation and forecasting tools such as PROMOD®, PLEXOS®, Aurora®, or PSLF®, understanding of U.S. wholesale power markets, knowledge of asset valuation or project finance, and experience leveraging AI, machine learning, or generative AI tools.
