Job Description: Energy Engineering Internship

Ameresco is offering an Energy Engineering Internship based out of their Worthington, Ohio office. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week internship for the Summer cycle, specifically from August to December 2025. While the role is remote-friendly, it does require the intern to come into the Worthington office as needed.

In this role, the intern will function as an Energy Engineer, providing assistance across all aspects of various energy projects. The primary goal is to help clients identify and implement energy solutions that generate savings and contribute to decarbonization and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

Implementation: Assist clients in identifying and implementing cost-effective Energy Efficiency projects that generate savings. This includes technologies such as Lighting upgrades, HVAC systems, Controls, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s).
Recovery Services: Help clients recoup investments related to past, current, and future Energy Efficiency projects by assisting with various programs, including Utility Programs, PJM, EPACT, Federal, State, and Local Grants.
On-Site Generation: Support clients in the design, ownership, and operation of on-site generation systems. This encompasses technologies like Cogeneration, Combined Heat and Power (CHP), Waste Energy Recovery (WER), Solar, and Wind energy systems.
Energy Efficiency Consulting: Aid clients in problem-solving complex Energy Efficiency issues. This involves conducting Audits and Assessments, performing Measurement & Verification (M&V), and providing Training.
• Provide assistance to the Smart Building Solutions Engineering team on Energy Services related projects.
• Contribute to the team’s efforts in auditing facilities, completing energy efficiency calculations, compiling creative Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs), and supporting the sales process for projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the team or supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently working toward a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering, with a preference for Mechanical Engineering, or a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Renewable & Clean Energy.

Additional Qualifications:

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, with particular emphasis on data entry and analytical skills.
• Prior experience working in the Energy field, specifically with lighting, HVAC, controls, or building envelope systems.
