Economic Empowerment Intern | World Relief
The Tone:
This is an internship at World Relief, located in Greenville, SC. World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization that has partnered with local churches and communities for 80 years to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish. This role is crucial for supporting refugees and immigrants on their path toward economic self-sufficiency, offering hands-on experience in workforce development and refugee resettlement services. The intern will contribute meaningfully to sustainable employment pathways for resilient community members while gaining valuable real-world experience in nonprofit program operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Support: Assist staff in delivering holistic employment services by conducting job readiness activities, including resume building, application completion, and interview preparation for clients.
• Resource Connection: Support clients throughout their job search process, ensuring they are connected to appropriate community resources that support job retention and long-term advancement.
• Data Management: Help maintain accurate client records, files, and perform essential data entry into program systems to ensure organized and accessible information.
• Program Logistics: Prepare necessary materials and provide logistical support for workshops, orientations, and various training sessions, including coordinating schedules and communications with clients.
• Employer Engagement: Assist with employer engagement tasks, which include maintaining updated job leads and resource lists to facilitate employment opportunities for clients.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Intern level. Demonstrates a strong cross-cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique experiences of refugees and immigrants. Upholds a clear commitment to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief.
• Experience: Proven proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Possesses the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new databases and case management systems.
• Skills: Exhibits clear verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail. Maintains a compassionate, professional, and client-centered approach in all interactions.
• Bonus: Holds a high school diploma or a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Possesses a valid driver’s license. Fluency in additional languages such as Spanish, Swahili, Rohingya, or Arabic is preferred.
