Director, Network Capacity Automation | Lambda
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Lambda, located in Bellevue, WA or San Francisco, CA, with 4 days per week in-office. Lambda builds AI cloud infrastructure to make compute as ubiquitous as electricity and give everyone the power of superintelligence. This role is crucial for scaling the network engineering organization to keep pace with rapid growth, ensuring flawless customer connectivity to GPU cloud infrastructure, and reinventing automation for future scale.

• Mission: Own network capacity end to end to ensure it lands ahead of customer demand for a flawless customer connectivity experience.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Own: Network capacity end to end — including planning, delivery, turn-up, and lifecycle — and be accountable for capacity landing ahead of customer demand.
• Build: The organization that delivers capacity automation, including hiring, developing, and retaining engineers and the leaders who manage them, and designing the team structure.
• Set: The multi-year technical strategy for capacity automation to ensure it continually scales to meet the company’s ambitious growth.
• Convert: Manual processes into durable software, with the goal of creating a capacity pipeline that runs autonomously without relying on manual intervention.
• Partner: With Principal Engineers and technical leadership to maintain a high engineering bar across design, code quality, and operational reliability for the team’s output.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Director-level engineering management with a software engineering background, capable of engaging credibly on architecture, technical tradeoffs, and code quality.
• Experience: 8+ years of engineering management experience, including directly managing senior individual contributors, and a proven track record of building and scaling engineering organizations that deliver mission-critical, high-performance cloud connectivity.
• Skills: Fostering a data-driven, automation-first, high-velocity organization; familiarity designing, building, scaling, and operating large-scale networks; strong automation skills and a track record of accelerating business delivery velocity; strong judgment about when to go deep technically, delegate, or escalate.
• Bonus: Experience in GPU cloud, HPC, or AI/ML infrastructure environments; deep familiarity with large-scale data center or cloud networking, including fabric build-out, capacity modeling, or network supply chain; experience with infrastructure capacity forecasting and long-lead hardware planning; prior experience at a high-growth infrastructure or cloud company.
