Digital & Social Media Intern (Graphic Design) | Southeastern Conference
The Tone:
This is a year-long, paid internship at Southeastern Conference, located in Birmingham, AL. The Southeastern Conference is a leader in collegiate athletics, dedicated to providing high-quality competition and promoting the student-athlete experience. This role offers a rare hands-on opportunity to produce real, high-impact creative for one of the most recognized brands in collegiate athletics. The intern will contribute original design work and content across SEC platforms, building professional skills in a fast-paced sports media environment.

• Team: Reports to the Director of Digital & Social Media and collaborates with SEC Creative Services and Communications teams.
• Mission: This person will produce high-impact creative and content across SEC digital platforms to drive fan engagement, highlight the student-athlete experience, and advance Conference initiatives.
• Tech Stack: Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects), Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, Slack, Trello, Google Workspace
What You’ll Actually Do
• Graphic Design: Design graphics and visual content for SEC social media channels, SECsports.com, email, and emerging platforms.
• Visual Storytelling: Create visual creative for major SEC moments, including championships, awards, rankings, announcements, and signature events.
• Brand Consistency: Produce both static and animated graphics that align with SEC brand standards, assisting in maintaining digital creative templates and design systems.
• Content Strategy: Collaborate to support the execution of the SEC’s digital and social media strategy, contributing to ideation and creative planning for campaigns.
• Event Coverage: Travel to selected SEC Championships, Media Days, and Conference events to capture content and produce real-time creative.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor’s degree program in graphic design, visual communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
• Experience: Experience with motion graphics or animation; familiarity with social media platforms, including Instagram, X, Facebook, and TikTok; a portfolio or sample work demonstrating graphic design skills.
• Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or After Effects); strong creative instincts and a sharp eye for visual storytelling; highly organized and able to juggle multiple projects under deadline.
• Bonus: Photography or video editing experience; previous work in collegiate athletics, sports media, or a creative agency environment; familiarity with collaboration tools such as Slack, Trello, and Google Workspace.
