The Tone:
This is a hybrid role at Hebrew SeniorLife, requiring three days on-site in Dedham, MA. Hebrew SeniorLife operates within a mission-driven environment, seeking a dedicated individual to join its Development and Board Relations team. This position is essential for supporting critical development operations, major gifts fundraising, and event planning initiatives. The Development Operations Assistant will play a central role in enhancing the team’s capacity and driving the achievement of strategic fundraising goals through robust administrative support, effective project coordination, and streamlined workflow management.

• Team: Reports to the Research and Database System Manager, serving the Development and Board Relations team.
• Mission: Helps the Development and Board Relations team increase capacity and achieve strategic fundraising goals through administrative support and workflow management.
• Tech Stack: Raiser’s Edge, Meditech, Luminate, Microsoft Office suite, Workday.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Database Management: Perform comprehensive donor prospect research, including processing Meditech data into Raiser’s Edge, updating resident information, creating prospect profiles, and maintaining overall database hygiene through address verification and record updates.
• Program Administration: Take ownership of the Religious Memorials Program, which involves handling weekly Yahrzeit mailings, coordinating synagogue lighting with Engineering, and managing the ordering and installation of new Synagogue Plaques.
• Team Project Coordination: Provide essential support for various team projects, such as coordinating all-staff meeting speakers, managing performance review forms, maintaining development team resources, and offering Workday and technical assistance.
• Annual Giving Support: Contribute to the annual giving program by increasing its capacity, making necessary annual fund calls to donors, and assisting with in-house fundraising appeals.
• Donor Stewardship & Communications: Draft personalized thank you letters, generate reports showcasing donor impact, track stewardship activities in Raiser’s Edge, produce annual volunteer leader holiday cards, and assist in sending milestone letters and gifts.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Hold a Bachelor’s degree coupled with foundational knowledge in development operations or a directly comparable administrative domain.
• Experience: Possess one to four years of practical experience in a development setting or a similar role requiring robust administrative and project coordination capabilities.
• Skills: Demonstrate high proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), exhibit strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives, possess excellent organizational abilities with acute attention to detail, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing while maintaining a professional and discreet demeanor.
• Bonus: Prior experience utilizing Raiser’s Edge database, a proactive ability to anticipate and address needs, and a desire to contribute as part of a collaborative, entrepreneurial team.
