Sweater Design INTERN | BCI Brands

The Tone:
This is an internship at BCI Brands, located in the New York City Metropolitan Area. BCI Brands is a long-established leader in the women’s fashion industry, with a history dating back to 1975. The company has evolved from initial private label lines to a multi-brand platform, featuring well-known names such as CeCe, Vince Camuto, Ted Baker, 1.State, and Parker, each catering to distinct customer demographics. This role is crucial as it offers an intern direct involvement in the foundational design operations, supporting the development process for sweater lines. The position provides hands-on exposure within a company dedicated to quality, style, innovation, and women’s empowerment through fashion.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Temporary (at least 4 days a week, summer, with potential for extension)
• Location: In-person, New York City Metropolitan Area
• Pay: $17 hourly
• Team: Reports to Assistant Designer
• Mission: Support the design team’s daily operations and product development process for sweater lines.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support Design Operations: Assist in the day-to-day operations of the design team and contribute to overall office organization.
• Manage Design Assets: Update presentation and sketch boards, and maintain the digital sample archive.
• Maintain Material Library: Organize and maintain the physical library of yarns, lab dips, and trims.
• Learn Tech Pack Creation: Gain exposure to the process of creating and updating tech packs.
• Observe Development Cycle: Observe the full development process from tech pack to showroom sample and bulk production.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student pursuing a degree in Fashion Design.
• Experience: At least 1 year of prior experience in fashion design.
• Skills: Detail-oriented with strong organizational, communication, and time management abilities.
