AI Creative Designer Intern (TikTok-Design-Effect) – 2026 Summer (BS/MS) | TikTok

The Tone:
This is an internship at TikTok, likely located in Los Angeles given the county-specific legal disclosures. TikTok is a global platform that is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, aiming to inspire creativity and bring joy. This role contributes to a design team focused on delivering first-class user experience, helping hundreds of millions of users create and express themselves, discover the world’s diversity, and build connections. As an intern, you will help make seemingly impossible design ideas a reality, experiencing industry exposure and hands-on work with real-world scenarios.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Creative Design: Take ownership of creative concepts and design for TikTok’s platform.
• User Engagement: Analyze user feedback and metrics to develop strategies that enhance engagement and improve overall user experience.
• Cultural Research: Research aesthetic preferences across different countries, applying cultural understanding to achieve diverse styles and perspectives in design.
• Idea Generation: Generate creative ideas beyond animations, including initiatives such as short video production, physical collectibles, and special effects filters.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, with an interest or experience related to AI.
• Experience: Prior experience in motion design, virtual design, creative design, or brand design, including interaction design and regular prototyping with tools like Figma. A recent portfolio must be submitted with your application.
• Skills: Strong capabilities in interaction design, prototyping, creative concept development, and the ability to analyze user feedback.
• Bonus: Ability to rapidly iterate and produce multiple concepts, experience with A/B testing and data-driven practices, and knowledge of Principal, Adobe Creative Suite, OSX, iOS & Android.
