Customer Quality Manager (Onsite) | Collins Aerospace
The Tone:
This is an onsite Customer Quality Manager role at Collins Aerospace, located in Melbourne, FL or Cedar Rapids, IA. Collins Aerospace, a leader within RTX, specializes in technologically advanced, intelligent solutions that redefine the aerospace and defense industry. This position is vital for improving customer satisfaction through dedicated quality improvement initiatives and serving as the primary customer’s voice throughout the organization. The role involves hands-on problem-solving in a multi-disciplinary team environment to address challenges and implement necessary design or process changes.

• Team: Cross-functional team including product quality, supply chain quality, manufacturing engineering, operations, design, and customer support, supporting Advanced Flight Systems.
• Mission: Improve customer satisfaction and reduce quality escapes by leading cross-functional teams and driving preventative actions and solutions.
• Tech Stack: PPAP core elements (PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow, Control Plans).
What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Relations: Act as the primary customer point of contact for quality improvement initiatives, primarily supporting Bombardier, focused on improving satisfaction.
• Team Leadership: Lead a cross-functional team to resolve known issues and drive preventative actions to reduce quality escapes.
• Issue Resolution: Direct Escape management procedures, root cause analysis, and develop recommendations for corrective action for design problems for internally produced products and processes.
• Quality Assurance: Lead customer audits and assessments, identifying and managing risk in product development primarily utilizing and driving PPAP core elements.
• Strategy Development: Develop proactive quality initiative strategies and oversee their implementation throughout the organization.
The Must-Haves
• Background: University Degree (or Advanced Degree in a related field), with in-depth knowledge of Quality Management System(s) and Root Cause Analysis tools.
• Experience: Minimum 8 years prior relevant experience (or 5 years with an Advanced Degree); 5+ years in Aerospace with solid knowledge of Quality Assurance in production, manufacturing, and new product developments; experience interfacing directly with customers and presenting to senior level leadership.
• Skills: Strong problem-solving skills to address problems and implement appropriate design or process changes; ability to effectively lead a cross-functional team to drive quality improvement initiatives; excellent communication skills (both verbal and non-verbal) to summarize complicated technical topics quickly and concisely.
• Bonus: FAA, EASA, and other regulatory authority knowledge with PMR / MRB and Corrective action methodology experience; certification in the appropriate ASQ Body of Knowledge (CQE, CQA, CRE, CPA).
