Credit and Collections Specialist | Builders FirstSource

The Tone:
This is an onsite role at Builders FirstSource, located in Hendersonville, NC. Builders FirstSource is America’s largest supplier of building materials, value-added components, and building services to the professional market. This role contributes directly to transforming the future of home building by ensuring sound financial practices within the Credit and Collections department. You will help make the dream of home ownership more achievable by effectively managing credit risks and collections for assigned locations.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: In-person, Hendersonville, NC
• Team: Credit and Collections department
• Mission: Complete activities within the Credit and Collections department across assigned locations, ensuring effective handling of delinquent accounts and investigating the credit risks of customers and suppliers.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Policy Adherence: Ensure the implementation and adherence to company credit/collection policies, practices, and procedures across one or multiple geographic areas.
• Account Adjustments: Recommend and approve decisions regarding adjustments to customer accounts, and the referral of overdue accounts for legal action.
• Collection Coordination: Coordinate area collection decisions with management teams and sales departments to resolve issues.
• Delinquent Receivables: Manage delinquent customer receivables, negotiate special customer payment plans, and participate in the development of financial packages.
• Credit Monitoring: Monitor overall credit activity, including monthly reviews of large accounts and location compliance with credit policies and procedures, lien laws, and sales tax laws.
• Difficult Case Resolution: Work closely with Credit Management and field leadership to resolve challenging collection cases.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: At least two (2) years of credit collections experience.
• Skills: Adherence to credit/collection policies and procedures, negotiation of payment plans, understanding of lien laws, and sales tax laws.
