The Tone:
This is an entry-level, full-time role at Seneca Foods Corporation, located at our Glencoe processing facility. Seneca Foods is a food processing company, and this role is crucial for an individual to demonstrate their ability to learn and grow within the Glencoe operations. The Cost Accountant contributes to the financial health and efficiency of the facility by managing costs, supporting budgeting, and assisting the Plant Controller with critical financial and operational tasks.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Operations: Manage Accounts Payable and Receiving processes for the facility.
• Reporting & Reconciliation: Prepare monthly journal entries and conduct account reconciliations.
• Cost Management: Develop and maintain standard costs for products and operations.
• Financial Planning: Assist in the quarterly forecasting and bi-annual budgeting processes.
• Controller Support: Provide assistance to the Plant Controller on various costing and analysis projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level position requiring an Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field. General knowledge of financial accounting procedures is required.
• Experience: Prior work experience in Accounting or Inventory is preferred, though not required.
• Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word. Exceptional thoughtful and analytical skills with a high attention to detail. Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, organization, and excellent communication abilities (written and verbal). The ability to work independently, manage multiple competing priorities, and meet deadlines under pressure.
