COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING INTERN
Reports to: Comms & Marketing Director
Status: Temporary/Seasonal, Full-time or Part-time, Exempt
Location: Anchorage, AK
Job Summary:
Aleut is seeking a creative and motivated Communications & Marketing Intern to support communications and marketing initiatives. This 10-week summer internship, starting on or around June 1, 2026, will provide hands-on experience in marketing, communications, and digital projects within a professional work environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Embrace the mission, values, and strategic goals of Aleut.
- Complete and present a learning summary to Aleut management upon internship completion.
- Support Aleut Communications and Marketing teams with day-to-day activities.
- Assist with the creation and editing of marketing and communications materials.
- Support basic graphic design, web content updates, and digital media projects.
- Assist with internal and external communications initiatives.
- Collaborate professionally with team members.
- Identify and participate in a goal-setting process with a direct supervisor to determine learning objectives for the internship duration.
- Observe and assist with department programs, services, research, and other tasks.
- Attend meetings and trainings as appropriate to acquire knowledge and skills within the department.
- Organize and assist in implementing strategies for special projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including speech writing, proper grammar, spelling, editing, and proofreading.
- Strong digital literacy skills, efficient in Microsoft Suite, and familiar with other common digital tools.
- Good interpersonal and public contact skills; ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff of Aleut and affiliated-company employees; exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others.
- Good organizational skills; ability to solve problems and exercise good judgment.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Enrolled in a continuing education program, such as a degree, vocational, or certification program.
- Aleut Corporation Shareholder and/or descendent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Junior undergraduate, Senior undergraduate, or Graduate student.
- Strong interest in marketing, communications, graphic design, writing, or web development.
