Job Description Summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join our team. This position offers a valuable opportunity to assist with diverse engineering work related to a wide range of projects, including roadway, grading, drainage, utility, erosion control, paving, cost estimating, feasibility studies, and various residential, industrial, municipal, and site development initiatives.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Assist with civil design work for roadway, grading, drainage, utility, and site development projects, catering to both residential and commercial clients.
  • Support in the preparation of critical project documentation, including construction plans, design calculations, specifications, bid documents, and cost estimates.
  • Engage in learning about relevant design standards and procedures specific to civil engineering practices.

Required Education and Experience

  • 0-4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.

Work Environment

This role operates within a professional office environment, requiring a professional appearance. The intern will routinely use standard office equipment, including computers, phones, scanners, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

The physical demands of this role include regularly talking or hearing. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may also be required to operate their personal vehicle for company business.

Position Type, Expected Hours & Travel

  • Position Type: This is a temporary internship position.
  • Expected Hours of Work: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., for a specified duration.
  • Travel: Travel may be required to local client and governmental offices, as well as visits to jobsites. The use of a personal vehicle for company business may be necessary.
