About the Job: Business Operations Lead

Summary
As a Business Operations Lead, you will serve as a peer leader and mentor to Business Operations Associates. Your responsibilities include delegating and following up on assigned work, processing and reviewing paperwork related to sales and appraisal purchases, and consistently providing and modeling iconic customer service.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Successfully perform all essential duties and responsibilities of a Business Operations Associate as needed.
- Participate in the “Manager on Duty” role, which involves delegating and directing Business Office workflow, including both customer-facing and non-customer-facing tasks, answering transaction-related questions, and following up on assigned tasks.
- Participate in and/or lead weekly leadership calibration discussions (LAB Meetings) and develop plans for observing Associate performance and addressing individual developmental needs.
- Mentor, coach, and develop Associates within the Business Office to improve performance and cultivate next-level talent.
- Serve as the functional expert for state-specific and CarMax process knowledge, reinforcing execution and navigating complex problem-solving scenarios.
- Provide iconic customer service by actively listening, answering customer questions, and resolving escalated customer concerns.
- Collaborate between store and Home Office teams to reconcile critical accounting, compliance, and customer service functions.
- Assess risk in Asset Protection reviews and approve store cash handling procedures.
- Assist store personnel, other locations, and all store departments in their daily functions while adhering to CarMax guidelines.

- Use word processing, spreadsheet, and other programs, demonstrating intermediate PC skills.
- Multi-task effectively in a high-energy, fast-paced work environment.
- Lift objects weighing as much as 15-20 lbs.
- Speak and listen effectively while working with internal and external customers in person and over the phone.
- Complete CarMax provided training, allowing for cross-training and full coverage of the Business Office.
Working Conditions
- Work in a pleasant but noisy office environment.
- May require walking or standing for extended periods of time.
- Requires flexible work hours, including opening and closing shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
