Job Description: Audit Intern
Responsibilities:
• As an integral part of the Audit Services team, you will contribute to financial statement audits, ensuring accuracy and reliability of client financial information while upholding principles of objectivity and independence.
• You will contribute to the effectiveness of client operations while maintaining the highest standards of professional integrity.
• You will learn to understand client-specific risks by reviewing financial results, relevant external information, current business trends, and client transactions.
• You will prepare clear and well-structured audit documentation regarding your understanding of client processes and technology systems.
• With appropriate guidance, you will execute and document testing of client controls and financial statement account balances using relevant standards and terminology.
• You will support the execution of high-quality audits by performing assigned tasks and professionally interacting with clients and engagement teams.
• You will support the use of Data & Analytics (D&A) in the audit process, including data extraction and analysis.
• You will utilize a range of technologies and data analysis tools to execute substantive audit procedures, including artificial intelligence (AI), Excel, Alteryx, SQL, Python, and Power BI.
• You will assist in preparing related documentation.
Qualifications:
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy, or equivalent program.
• Must be pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the principal place of business (the state where the office is located).
• Upon completion of the internship, candidates must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics is preferred.
• Experience with data analysis tools such as Alteryx or Power BI is preferred.
• Knowledge of technical accounting and financial reporting standards, as well as generally accepted accounting principles is required.
• Ability to navigate various computer applications, including MS Office (emphasis on Excel), and aptitude to quickly learn KPMG Audit tools and applications used by clients is essential.
• Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong communication, time management, and relationship-building skills are required.
• Ability to employ sound professional judgment and professional skepticism is essential.
• Flexible and adaptable team player with leadership experience, resourcefulness in delivering high-quality work, and ability to demonstrate project management skills are considered a plus.
• Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation.
• Audit professionals are expected to work in-person at a KPMG office or client site on average of three days per week. Some client site locations may require travel and overnight/extended stay.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based sponsorship.
