Position Summary

As an Audiovisual Systems Design Intern at DLR Group, you will be an integral part of our dynamic and multidisciplinary design team. This role focuses on working and learning to produce innovative audiovisual designs for commercial, educational, and municipal buildings of varying sizes and complexities. You will contribute to projects that aim to elevate the human experience through thoughtful and integrated design solutions.

About the EPX Program at DLR Group

This internship is part of DLR Group’s Emerging Professional Experience (EPX) Program, designed to provide diverse perspectives on the needs of a design enterprise and the vast possibilities for growth within the design profession. The EPX program aims to provide a strong foundation for building your career and exploring opportunities within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with architects and engineers as part of our integrated design process.
  • Learn the tools, technology, and workflow involved with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and how contemporary designers deliver successful projects.
  • Accompany team members on site visits to project locations to observe the real-world results and implementation of your designs.
  • Assist in developing concepts, performing calculations, creating models, reviewing drawings, and supporting overall project execution.
  • Perform 2D Drafting and 3D Modeling using Autodesk Revit Software.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in a relevant engineering discipline, or a program related to sound design, audio arts, video production, or other areas of study concerning the installation or use of audiovisual equipment.
  • Excellent communication, technology, and organizational skills.
  • Strong multitasking skills, with the ability to easily switch between projects while maintaining task oversight.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • A genuine desire to learn about the architecture/engineering design process.
  • Must be at least a third-year student at an accredited university.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for work visa or residency sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with drafting programs such as Revit.
  • Goal-oriented with strong skills in problem-solving, creativity, and attention to detail.
  • AVIXA Recognized AV Technologist Certificate or other equivalent certified credentials.

Location & Work Schedule

  • This seasonal position for Summer 2026 will require approximately 40 hours of work per week.
  • This role will be based in the office, following DLR Group’s four-day in-office work model (with flexibility to work remotely on Fridays).
  • Opportunity to be based in one of the following cities:

  • Suggested Pay Range: $20 – $26 USD. Compensation considerations are based on location, experience, and skills.
