Associate Consultant – SAP | International Business Machines

The Tone:
This is a full-time consulting role at International Business Machines, starting in 2027, for university hires ready to contribute to global client projects. IBM builds solutions across digital transformation, cloud strategy, AI adoption, and process redesign, helping organizations tackle their most complex challenges. This role is crucial for supporting clients in implementing, enhancing, and optimizing SAP solutions, directly contributing to their business success and transformation initiatives. As an Associate, you will develop consulting skills, work with diverse peers, and have access to extensive learning and career path exploration within a culture of internal mobility.

• Team: Part of the Associate Program, collaborating with global client teams and experienced consultants.
• Mission: To support clients in implementing, enhancing, and optimizing SAP solutions to achieve their business goals.
• Tech Stack: SAP S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Supply Chain, SAP Finance, SAP Procurement, SAP Analytics, SAP Ariba, and other cloud-based enterprise solutions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Implement: Assist with the implementation, enhancement, and ongoing support of various SAP solutions for clients.
• Collaborate: Work alongside clients and project teams to gather detailed business requirements and propose effective solutions.
• Document: Support workshops, stakeholder meetings, and create process documentation to understand current and future business workflows.
• Contribute: Engage in project activities including testing, documentation, data validation, user training, issue resolution, and critical go-live support.
• Optimize: Apply IBM’s established methodologies and best practices to help improve client business processes and overall outcomes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree for a university hire position, with an openness to assist clients in solution design, business process analysis, process development, functional implementation, and application support.
• Experience: Entry-level career stage with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn enterprise systems, ERP platforms, and cloud-based applications.
• Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical abilities to derive data-driven recommendations, coupled with excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams. A willingness to travel up to 100% is required.
• Bonus: Preferred majors include MIS, Business, Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Human Resources, or related fields. Prior internship, co-op, academic project, or hands-on experience with ERP systems (preferably SAP), along with exposure to SAP concepts, modules, or platforms like SAP S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Ariba, or SAP Analytics. An understanding of core business processes in areas such as finance, procurement, supply chain, human resources, or payroll is valued, as is exposure to requirements gathering, testing, documentation, process mapping, or workflow analysis. A willingness to pursue relevant SAP certifications and continued learning opportunities is also a plus.
